SENIOR citizens would receive a personalised photo identification card and be treated to extra seniors concerts under a Brogden-led state government.

Opposition Leader John Brogden offered the inducements to seniors yesterday during a visit to the Terrigal Senior Citizens Centre.

Mr Brogden also campaigned with Liberal candidate for The Entrance Phil Walker at Toowoon Bay.

Mr Brogden said the identification card would run on similar lines to the RTA Proof of Age card and would be available to those who did not hold a driver's licence.

"In these times of high security, many seniors have found it difficult to undertake day to day activities like mailing a parcel overseas, change their bank account or apply for a credit card because they do not have the appropriate identification," he said.

He said peak community organisations would be consulted to ensure the cards were acceptable and easy to use.

The additional free seniors concerts would be held in 10 regional centres across the state.

A Coalition government would provide $1 million to the Premier's Seniors Country Concert Series over the next four years.

Terrigal senior citizen Eddie Rorich said he liked the sound of the proposals.

"I've got a Seniors Card at the moment but I think the extra identification would help a lot of people," he said. "I think a seniors concert on the Central Coast would be great." ? Contest for The Entrance, Page 14
